Rebecca, 30, became involved with Jack, a married coworker with two children.
Despite her guilt, she continued the affair, believing Jack would eventually leave his wife. He claimed his wife was unattractive, selfish, and that he no longer loved her. When Rebecca became four months pregnant, she expected him to commit to her.
Instead, she received a surprising call from Jack’s wife, Kate. Calm and polite, Kate asked to meet privately. Rebecca agreed and lied to Jack about where she was going.
At the café, Kate arrived with her two children. She revealed that:
She knew about Rebecca’s pregnancy,
She had known about Jack’s affairs for years,
She divorced Jack five months earlier — something he never told Rebecca.
Kate explained that she wanted her children to know their unborn sibling and hoped Rebecca’s child could grow up connected to them. Both children expressed genuine excitement about having a new baby sister or brother.
Rebecca left overwhelmed. She now knows Jack lied about his marriage and kept major secrets. She hasn’t told him about the meeting and feels confused about what to do next.
