Hollywood actor John Goodman, 72, was rushed to the hospital after suffering a hip injury on the set of his upcoming film with Tom Cruise. The accident happened at Pinewood Studios in the UK when Goodman slipped or fell while blocking a scene. Although the exact severity of the injury is unknown, he received immediate medical attention, causing a brief pause in filming. A Warner Bros. spokesperson confirmed that production will resume next week after Goodman’s full recovery.
The film, currently titled Judy, is directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and stars Tom Cruise in a major return to Warner Bros. It also features Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, and Sophie Wilde, making it one of the most anticipated releases set for 2026.
Goodman’s injury comes during an already difficult year for the actor, whose home in the Pacific Palisades was recently destroyed by a fire. Despite these challenges, he continues working steadily.
Throughout his career, Goodman has battled depression, anxiety, and alcoholism, but he has been sober since 2007. He also transformed his health, losing over 100 pounds by adopting a Mediterranean-style diet and exercising regularly. His long-time trainer credits his commitment and strategic approach to the dramatic improvement.
